Holding Yourself Accountable

There comes a moment on every healing, wellness, or personal growth journey when you have to look in the mirror and ask yourself:

Am I showing up for the life that I say that I want?

That question isn’t meant to shame you. It’s meant to empower you. Because the Truth is, the results we want - whether it’s feeling more energized, creating a peaceful home, finding emotional balance, or healing from childhood trauma - don’t come from wishing, waiting, or wondering.

They come from aligned action, taken consistently, with compassion and grace.

And that’s where accountability steps in.

Accountability is Self-Respect in Action

Accountability isn’t about being perfect. It’s not about never “slipping”, or always having your shit together. It’s about respecting yourself enough to come back—again and again—to what matters that most to you.

It’s holding your own hand through the hard parts. It’s saying, “I know why I started, and I won’t abandon myself now.” Or my favorite phrase, “I didn’t come this far, to only come this far.”

Accountability is a form of self-leadership. You don’t need to wait for someone to rescue you, or for life to slow down, or for the perfect moment to begin. You can start where you are, with what you have, and move forward from a place of love.

And you must! Because let me tell you something…

Small Actions Make Seismic Shifts

Most people overestimate what they can do in a week and underestimate what they can do in a year. The journey isn’t about intensity—it’s about consistency.

You don’t need to change your entire life overnight. You just need to ask yourself:

  • What’s one Small Right Action I can take today that supports my wellness journey? That supports how I want to FEEL?

  • How can I hold myself accountable in a way that feels nurturing, not punishing?

  • What systems or rituals help me stay on track and aligned with my values?

Whether it’s a daily walk, a few deep breaths before bed, or showing up to your journaling practice when you’d rather scroll—those tiny choices add up. Over time, they become the results you once only dreamed about.

I’ll throw out some examples from my own life. I call these “MINIMUMS”, or, the bare minimum I perform each day to stay in alignment with my goal of feeling vibrant and at ease, light and healthy, and on track to stay that way. I have a few:

  1. I start the day with a high protein breakfast. I don’t care if it’s eggs and bacon, or a fruit smoothie with some Level-1 in it. I start my day with a high protein breakfast. Non-negotiable.

  2. I take a 10 to 20 minute walk on my lunch break. Sometimes it’s in the rain, the snow, the cold, or the manufacturing warehouse… No matter what, I get that movement in. It’s a bare minimum for my day!

  3. I write gratitude in my notebook before I start working. No matter what. I sit down at my desk in the morning, write the date at the top of the page, write “Today’s Intention:”, followed by my intention for the day, and then I write anywhere from 5 to 10 things I’m grateful for, big and small. This usually looks like “rubbing Ella’s belly this morning,” “grateful for that hug from Greg before I left the house,” “grateful for the compliment my co-worker gave me on my outfit.” The more you do it, the more things come to mind. This is a MAJOR. STATE. CHANGER.

  4. I also wrap up my entire day by stretching, doing breathwork (sometimes this becomes a meditation, not always) and then writing in my “One Line a Day” journal. It’s a fun one! You get like four lines to sum up the day. Sometimes it’s hilarious, sometimes I write something disparaging. It just depends! I intend to read it all back on December 31, 2025. The journal is set up for FIVE YEARS of this. I digress…

Get Honest, Get Clear, and Keep F**king Going

If you're not seeing the results you want in your health, wellness, or healing journey, it's worth asking:

  • Where am I avoiding responsibility?

  • Where am I avoiding taking action?

  • Where am I outsourcing my power?

  • What am I pretending not to know?

These questions aren’t meant to criticize—they’re here to awaken you. When you get honest with yourself, you gain clarity. When you gain clarity, you regain your power.

You are not broken. You are not behind. But you do have to participate in your own becoming.

And You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

Accountability doesn’t have to be a solo act. Whether it's a coach, a friend, or a wellness community (like Full Circle Wellness 💛), surrounding yourself with others who are also committed to growth makes the journey more sustainable—and way more joyful!

Invite support. Ask to be checked in on. Share your goals. Let people witness your process. If there is no one else, you’ve got me! Seriously. Reach out. I will support you and cheer you on.

The more you own your journey, the more momentum you create. The more honest you are about where you are, the easier it is to take the next right step.

Your Future Self is Literally Counting on You

So if you’ve been waiting for a sign… this is it.

This is your invitation to recommit.

To follow through.

To hold yourself accountable.

Not because you have to, but because you deserve to see the results of your own intention.

Your healing, your health, your wholeness—it’s all within reach.

You just have to keep showing up for it.

You've got this.

Be Well,
L
